Another selection of arcade action style games.
I am not sure if this is an actual copy of the original CD, or whether it is a custom CD of the contents: the presentation does not look very professional.

BMUG has done its best to screen the files on this CD-ROM to be System 7 compatible and 32 bit clean. All of the files on this CD-ROM were opened and played with on Macs from a Mac IIci to a PowerBook 180c to a Centris 650. Most of them were run in 256 colors on a 14 inch color monitor. We've also done our best to make sure all the files on this disk are either shareware or freeware.
The file size is unfortunately misleading: only 165 MB of this 650 MB image are actually used.
These enhanced clones and mash-ups of popular puzzle games were released as shareware between 1993 and 1996.
Rules (such as piece types and playfield size) can be selectively customized to adjust difficulty. Games traditionally played on top-down square grids may offer hexagonal, randomized, or bespoke layouts, and some also incorporate level editors. All of the falling-block games offer special pieces similar to those in Super Tetris.
Nine titles are included:
A CD collection of game demos that came bundled with the AppleCD external CD-ROM drive. A mix of playable and non-playable demos, featuring:
Included with issue 8 of the games magazine Mac Action, this CD contains demos of some of the best Mac games of 1995 to early 1996. Also on the ROM are 100's of user made scenarios for Doom, Marathon and Dark Forces. Plus shareware games (some not seen at the MG to date) games editors, e-zines, patches, updaters, movies, etc. See screenshot 3 for content listing.
In all, a pretty good ROM. If anyone has other CD issues of Mac Action, please consider adding them to the Garden's archives.

Following on from Amiga ClassiX 4, Amiga Classix 5 is another compilation of 200 Amiga games. The games are on the CD as ADF (Amiga Disk Format) files which can be played with the supplied emulator UAE. Additional extras are a graphical menu system (Windows only) with some information about the games, manuals and/or walkthroughs for some games and issue #55 of the German magazine Amiga Future. In contrast to the predecessors, all games are full versions (mostly cracked) and there are no demo versions.
C64 ClassiX 2 follows on from C64 ClassiX, providing another 500 Commodore 64 games that run under Mac OS X or Windows using the provided emulation software.
This is a hybrid Mac/PC disc image.
A disc of Japanese demo software. Includes some rare demo games several of which require HyperCard Player. Also includes a fully playable demo of Samurai Mech (requires monochrome display.)
For full list of software see the attached picture.
This disc draws on an older pool of shareware than most compilation CDs, to the extent that "Color Games" is just one category out of twenty. Many rare World Builder and Pinball Construction Set projects are found herein.
The first edition of this shareware CD-ROM was released in May 1994, billed as "the largest collection of Apple Macintosh games." Its cover design parodied Ultra Tide detergent.
A second edition followed in September 1995. It reprised most of the content from the first, plus 150 MB of new material.
These 3 games are open-source 'Tux' educational games. Nice graphics, sound-effect/music and they are actually fun - our kids love the Math and Paint programs especially.
Not sure what architectures, but they run on 10.4 G4 great.
